Lime Rock open practice, 2-MAY-2000

Practice went well, Lynn Wilson and I from Rennlist racing got as much practice as we could have asked for. There were several other Porsches too (Dan Jacobs, who is Lynn's crew chief, was helping Lynn and practicing in his own 911). There was also some old guy with an ex-trans am 700HP Datsun turbo Z but I don't think that car made it on the track. However he did blow by me after the uphill in a later trans-am Oldmobile. Someone said he is in a picture that is out now, but I don't have much time for the movies. I was impressed with his lowered volvo wagon that sounded like it had a hemi...

My car was working well but my shock experiments proved too soft. However on ancient Hoosiers that would not come up to temperature at all, I turned my fastest lap ever so I should be in good shape for the PCA club race in a few weeks. Just got a limited slip today, not sure if I should put it in now or wait... tranny is not healthy but should hold up for three weekends in a row (LRP, Glen, Pocono). Gary Fairbanks can do the rebuild and LSD install quick if I drive it down to him but I don't have much time to pull the engine. Hey Dan, want some more work? ;-)

Here are a few pix of mine and Lynn's cars in the pits, will have some action shots later if they come out (it was not easy to stay close to Lynn on the track for photos!).

Lynn is thinking of going out for more practice.

No more paint chips or broken rear spoiler!!! (One headlight was loaned to my '72S yesterday...)
